Believe it or not, there was a JCList thread all about this topic awhile back (i.e., where to get one's jeans hemmed in Downtown Jersey City).
So I just dug it up for you.  I'm not sure what the turnaround time will be, so you may want to try giving the places recommended in these posts a call today to see how quickly they can help you out. (Posts 1-5, 8 and 12-13 sound like they are most relevant to your needs.) Good luck to you in your hemming adventures!

Want jeans hemmed. Know sometimes malls have those quick places, don't think Newport has that - but anyone know a tailor or any place else?
