When a cab driver stopped at a Downtown Jersey City fried chicken restaurant to get directions to Manhattan, the three men in his taxi grabbed the wheel and took off in the vehicle early Friday morning, officials said.
At about 12:47 a.m. police responded to Hollywood Chicken on Newark Avenue near Coles Street, where the 38-year-old Brooklyn man told them he left the cab running when he went inside and came back out to find the car was gone, reports said.
Police broadcast a description the three men and the yellow cab and a short time later the vehicle was found abandoned on Newark Avenue in front of the Hudson County Administration Building, reports said.
It wasn't long after that that police stopped three men fitting the description of the men in the cab and the victim positively identified them, reports said.
Additional details on the men was not available Friday.
