I hope some people are able to and will consider taking a few hours off from work to come to the meeting.
perhaps this issue and its impact through poor governance; on our public safety, taxes and financial stability, quality of life and long term sustainability of our city is important enough to take off/use vacation or personal time. understandably, many cannot, but keep in mind that Councilman Fulop is and has been taking off from work (using personal/vacation time) for the past fours to serve on the council and attend any council, council caucus and other meetings / events that have/occur during the work day. Local and state elected officials, including the Governor, have begun to publicly call for the these crooks to resign. News stories to that effect are in papers all across the state. Media is all over this story and will be in JC tomorrow to see it live. Hoboken dems are calling for the mayor of that city to resign. Yet, all we have heard from the council, save for one member, is deafening silence. Healy has suspended city employees, which does not include Vega's council duties, nor his position as president of the council.
There is no law which requires these people to resign. Only pressure from the public, media, and other elected officials can achieve this since hoping that these crooks have some shame, accept the consequences of selling the public trust, and resigning immediately is a long shot. Tomorrow is critical. I'll be there bright and early with a sign and plenty throat lozenges. Hope it will be impossible for them to get into city hall due to the size of the crowd.

We need hundreds of people there. A dozen people on the news will look like JC likes the stink in city hall. But it's going to be really hard to have a big turnout on Wed 9am. If it was 7pm Thur or noon Sat the streets would be packed. I'll be there with friends on 8/4 as Fulop suggested, but there's no way that most people can blow off work.

your mere presence makes a statement. come out beforehand at 9:00am, and / or attend the council meeting at 10am on Wednesday. members of the public may speak during the public speaking portion of the meeting. to be on the speaker list, call the City Clerk's office at 201.547.5150. Dan

(Put a picture of Beldini in a bikini with one of her legs on a picture of City Hall, and one hand holding cash covering her boobs) You could also put a head of Healy & Vega looking out the windows of City Hall. 2)Vega, Spare your dignity and Jersey City! Don't forget - the media will be photographing and videotaping so a sign that is easy, with large letters, to read like RESIGN NOW will show well in photos and on TV.
This is all about getting the media involved in the process.

EM - I agree that this should be focused on what is in front of us, but let's be clear here: Healy IS on tape as being part of this.
If he was smart enough to send out his lapdogs to do his bidding and leave the room for 30 seconds while money actually changed hands, so be it. But look at what Vega had in his coffers right before election (~ $125,000) and look at what Healy had ($3 million.) You really think Healy is clean? Quote:

Count me in - I'm bringing my daughter, too, so she can learn about the process.
As an aside, I strongly urge anyone that hasn't read the full complaints against those involved to do so. You can find them in many of the threads on JCList or just google "complaint" and the name of the accused. They're eye opening to say the least.

um TWO of the people ran AGAINST healy. lets not get the healy bashing to cloud the overall corruption. far as i've read he's not being indicted. yes i do know that he surrounds himself w/ those that are being brought down, but if you're going for a slogan, bashing healy is a cop out and part of your overall agenda. we know, the majority of you hate healy. this is much bigger than that. where's your disdain for the a##HOLES actually on tape taking bribes? where's your outrage for them?

and i do understand that "all summer meetings are in the daytime" i would think this would fall under special circumstances and moved to a time when the most people could attend. Again, this is a joke and of course i'll voice my opinion thru emails to my councilman, only to probably be ignored.
