'challenged' and 'special' are the new approved terms for what is being refered !

I've always believed that Healy and Comey are always challenged and special individuals !

It seems English is not your first language. That's fine.

But, it makes me wonder why you use the term "Mongol."

Are you Chinese or Korean? Does"Mongol" represent some fierce, walled-off outside attacker?

It's not a word I hear being used alot. But, the word Mongoloid is an out-of-date for people who are East Asian, or an offensive term for people with mental handicaps such as Downs' Syndrome. Neither group fills Montgomery Gardens.

So, what were you driving at?

the more curious part is that people actually agreed with the comment, and thought it was appropriate.

I doubt any of you would have called Genghis Khan a stinking Mongol to his face.

Perhaps "mongrel" is the term that was meant?

Maybe mongoloid would be better.... but that is really insulting. Even mongoloids don't want to be associated with the trash from the Gardens.

i dont get the mongol gardens comment... are the people in the projects supposed to be invading the great wall of beacon? does downtown = china in this scenario? and why have there been no references to the great wall of china south park episode yet?

To correct any outright lies about the subject, in this case Beacon, who do you ask? Someone who drive by the area and never set foot inside the building or the owners/tenants? The fact is you have not heard any owner/tenant complaint about the property which indicates their satisfaction.

Regardless, this thread is all about Beacon. It is a good place to start if anyone has interest in the property. Like many, I browse thru this forum and this Beacon thread specifically before making my purchase decision.

3. Jitney/Shuttle, six vs. a half-dozen, 2 nickles vs. 1 dime - it's all the friggin same. The mere existence of a Shuttle implies 1 of 2 things (neither of them very positive) - a) the building is in a bad section of town and residents don't feel comfortable walking to the PATH or b) the building is so far away from the PATH that they need the shuttle to get there in a timely manner. Or it could be a combo of both, but if both of the above statements were untrue, why would there be a need for the shuttle?

The whole us vs. them debate is getting very tiresome. It's true that many renters and/or wanna-be property owners are engaging in a little schadenfreude at the expense of Beacon owners and many Beacon owners are overly defensive about their purchase and feel the need to respond to every thing that is said about *their* property. At the end of the day it's the typical message board discussion of divergent viewpoints where one side will never convince the other of the rightness/wrongness of their opinions.

The Best you can hope for is to correct any outright lies about the subject. You'll never be able to put an end to snarky comments. I guess in short: Can't we all just get along!?

Per the wiki definition please put any Beacon resident in line who: "posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room or collaborative content community with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional or disciplinary response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion." I don?t think anyone from the Beacon has done that here, I can?t say the same for some others. I know I can?t put an end to comments like this, but I will call a spade a spade when it is this shameless.

With respect to the shuttle, although I know people who walk further every day, i personally don?t want to HAVE to walk to JSQ every day in my work clothes. So in my opinion it is 2 (or b), this is why i passed on renting a place deep in Hoboken a while back. Sometimes I do the walk when I feel like it, its only about 10 mins or so, but on a hot, muggy, or rainy day?no thanks. I wish they had a covered bike rack at my office here, I would ride in a heartbeat most days.

There also must be another reason for having a shuttle/jitney/bus/buggy as Dixon Mills has one and they don?t fit any of the categories you mentioned in my opinion.

I thought the great jitney debate was settled once and for all after Sex in the City's "Hamptons Jitney" episode?

You know what they say, if it's good enough for Carrie Bradshaw, then it's gotta be good enough for JCList!!!

Sheeesh...you always have to get the last word. I hope they ARE happy there, we need to keep the good guys going. But please realize that we are happy too, you said yourself you want to see The Beacon succeed. I sincerely love it here as do the others who have posted, you could be happy for us too, not just the area, but whatever floats your boat.

groovlstk you puzzle me. First of all, this is how the thread started:

There's next to no info on the site...just wants your personal info.

How was that being educational? I find it is more of a question don't you think?

Second, of cause you don't see anyone from 77. You are talking about 200 vs 20? 25? in population.

Let me know if you want me to start at "77 Hudson" thread for you.

groovlstk: No one was posting Beacon porn---Xerxes bashed our shuttle service, using jitney as it is usually used here, to mean a low class service. I defended it, which is easy to do since if anything is amiss with one shuttle they put one of the others in service and promptly fix any problems. AS far as comparing it to 77 Hudson it is apples and oranges. 77 Hudson is closer to the water but if you don't have a northwest view it is kinda boring. The windows are nice and high but there are a zillion towers that are glass and steel monoliths. Our building is too cool from the 20's through 40's and they ain't makin' 'em like this anymore. AND this thread is supposed to be about THE BEACON right? So we have the right to post what we like, YOU certainly do, as long as it follows forum rules. Sure new buyers don't hurt my property values but I am not a landlord or real estate mogul, just own my own and I love it here. By the way--don't forget you are invited anytime for a tour.

This and other Beacon threads follow a predictable pattern. A Beaconite or two will post about the great amenities at the B and what a great investment it is; others will see this as shilling and point out all the negatives about the Beacon. Beaconites will innocently whine about haters and wonder out loud, for the 500th time, why people are hoping they fail.

Here's a bulletin for you: No decent and rational person would like to see the Beacon fail. But persist with posting Beacon porn again and again in thinly-veiled efforts to attract new buyers and these cycles will continue.

This is one of my favorite places I have lived in. It is awesome, as is the shuttle. My purchase was NOT stupid. All other places in the US are in the same boat as The Beacon but don't have the amenities or the style. Why are you going back to the bashing of The Beacon? Our developer won the contract to develop the retail where Montgomery Gardens is and an experienced mixed income housing developer is doing the residential in partnership. I am excited.

Everyone has the right to opinion but continuously downplay or bash others interest is low. For those of you who have no interest in Beacon, I?m really curious why you are here the first place? So, I started analysis what is the motive behind all these bashing:

1. If you have real estate interest in JC, Beacon success is good news for you because of property value gain. Even if you are from the competitor such as CP and 77H, pervious statement should still true.

2. If you have no real estate interest in JC but continuously trolling this particular thread, Beacon success must do you no good. Perhaps you are one of those to be evicted resident living in Mongol Gardens?

3. You are envy as simple as that.

I tend to believe 2 is the right one, just didn?t realize Mongol Gardens is Internet ready.

Jitney, first google definition:
bus: a vehicle carrying many passengers; used for public transport;

Shuttle goes the gamut from a feathered badminton item. A high speed train or a high speed JET, a tool going back and forth feeding yarn

Just because the Beaconettes would like to overamplify their life experience perhaps to drive up real estate prices, the word SHUTTLE is deceptive because it almost always implies high speed not some hokey-pokey cab substitute going a couple blocks through an unsafe part of time to connect to a REAL shuttle, like the PATH train. A small bus going a couple blocks is a jitney...a jet to Boston is a SHUTTLE.

And as for the moron analyzing choices of avatars, mine is simply from the small choice that the board proferred when I joined. If these are not acceptable to you take it up with the webmaster.

Don't feed trolls and DON'T try to sell your real estate. If you made a stupid purchase don't blame others...accept your mistake with a bit of grace.

Don't BE a troll.
