just dont make yourself an easy target and you probably wont get robbed

That and the fact that it was one of the few rainless weekends we had in a while. Many blocks in the Heights had people hanging out late that night enjoying the weather outside. When that happens there is more crime.

It's funny that the interest in this thread is about who delivers food that late at night to Jersey City. While I'd like to know as well, who delivers that late, I'm also concerned because I live a few feet from the "incident" and I used to feel that the area was pretty safe, relatively speaking...Any opinions on whether the crime in the heights has gone up with the recession?

A pizzeria on Central used to deliver until 2am on weekends. It closed a few years ago but I wish had a list of places too that delivered late.

Who delivers this late? I bet a lot of people would like to keep a list of places that deliver after midnight, since there aren't a lot of food choices around here late.

I passed by this corner with in minutes of this crime but I didn't see anything. If I remember right the corner was empty.

Man loses car, $100 to armed thieves

Monday, June 29, 2009

A 28-year-old Bayonne man was yanked from his car and carjacked at gunpoint early yesterday after making a delivery for a Hoboken restaurant in Jersey City, police reports said.

The Avenue E resident had his silver 1999 Honda Accord and $100 stolen by two men after delivering a meal to a home at Sherman Avenue near Bowers Street in the Jersey City Heights at 1:15 a.m., reports said.

Police met with the victim after being called to the scene on reports of a carjacking.

The man told police he noticed two men lurking near his car after making a food delivery.

After he got into the driver's seat, one of the men put a black handgun to his face and demanded money.

After handing over the cash, the victim began to drive away, but the man with the handgun yelled at him to stop. The man then pulled him out of the car and both suspects jumped in the Accord and sped away, reports said.
