I am concerned that a lot of people will be there with a bunch of friends. Maybe too many, actually.

Better yet, they could set up a screen outside. I was in Berlin during the World Cup and many of the cafes would have a TV set up outside, and it was just a wonderful way to watch the games. Some people would just watch a bit as they walked by, others would make it a home for the whole day of games. If Zeppelin has the game on this sunday, I am THERE!!!

I'll wait until I'm 6 beers deep before I celebrate the opening.

I just walked over - happened to run into the developer (Peter Mocco). He said it was absolutely their intention to open today, but the inspection process dragged out much longer than expected. (There were inspectors there while I was speaking with him. ) There was still some light finishing construction going on - looked like they were essentially done. The interior is done and has a Munichy kind of look and feel.

Peter said they should be ready to go Wednesday and an official opening next weekend. He also pointed out the 142 taps..... whenever it actually opens, it'll definitely be worth the wait!

I think these are simply rumors and nothing more. the phone number just gets you an automated message with no word of an opening date. is there any verification of this place actually opening this weekend?

Yes, rumor is that they are opening tonight according to some folks I trust. We shall see. Could be a nicer night to have an outdoor drinking venue.

Went by here on Weds night and looks like there is still a good amount of cleaning up to do - didn't even see any tap handles at the bar, but it was a little dark inside - time will tell...

What time do you think it would open, if actually opens today?

The website says 4pm on Fridays, but me thinks they might need all the time possible.

I just spoke with the owner and was told they will be open THIS Friday. June 19th is the start of something good in JC. I can't wait. Call before to confirm, but it SHOULD be open.

Nivekt13 - It looked like they had another week or two of work, if they are working every day.

Weinish - why would they only have German beers?

I went back to the website today, and they have changed the opening day to "mid June". They also have a beer and food menu, boasting "144 draft lines of European beers and American craft brews."

Here are the highlights of their list of draught -

Franziskaner Weissbier - Germany

Spaten Oktoberfest - Germany
Hofbrau Hefeweisen - Germany
Hofbrau Original - Germany
Hoegaarden - Belgium
Hacker-Schorr Hefeweisen - Germany
Stella Artois - Belgium
Blue Moon - Golden, CO
Beck?s - Germany
Radeberger - Germany
Guinness - Ireland
Staropramen - Czech Republic
Bass Ale - England

Newcastle Brown Ale - England
Abita Purple Haze - New Orleans, LA
Aventinus - Germany

Smuttynose Old Brown Dog - Portsmouth, NH

Smuttynose IPA - Portsmouth, NH
Boddington?s Pub Ale - England

Tennent?s Scottish Ale - United Kingdom
DAB - Germany
Leffe Brown Ale - Belgium
River Horse Double Wit - Lambertville, NJ
Fruili Strawberry White Ale - Belgium
Heineken - Germany

Czechvar - Czech Republic

Carlsberg - Denmark

Pilsner Urquell - Czech Republic

Kira Belgian White - Belgium
Leine?s Sunset Wheat - Chippewa Falls, WI
Grolsh - Netherlands
Blue Point Toasted Lager - Patchogue, NY

Smithwick?s - Ireland
Palm - Belgium
Honey Moon - Golden, CO
Leffe Blonde Ale - Belgium
Celebrator Doppelbock - Germany
Corsendonk Brown Ale - Belgium

Ah good point. There were some box trucks and vans unloading them. I thought those trucks were all refrigerated.

Wouldn't the pressurized kegs be shipped unrefrigerated from the distributor?

How long can kegs keep unrefrigerated for? Saw several distributors unloading kegs yesterday and assumed they would be going right into refrigeration - didn't really think about it.

Well, the laundry room is in the basement and lo and behold, there were about 30-40 kegs just sitting down there from yesterday afternoon.

yeah, i agree with post above. if you live there, meaning, bought there, you have much bigger issues. if you're renting, you can move.

it's like when i moved to JC i was thinking, "oh, the silence of it all..." a few stragglers compared to hoboken or new york city? Not even close.

i await the beer garden, and choose to fight those who do N T

damn, how did such a good thing turn into such a pessimistic thread? theres finally a beer garden opening up in jersey city which is awesome. for those who dont live in that building, who cares, and for those who do, i actually dont think its going to be as bad as you think given the early hours that people are to return indoors from bars. just saying, lets not shoot this place down before it even opens.
