Glad I'm not the only one who thought it strange that beacon residents "need" take a shuttle to JSQ, its only a 10 min walk, maybe a bit longer if you're slow, but really not bad at all. And Mercer is only 1 block north of Montgomery.

Um, Summit and Mercer, where the incident occurred, is very near the Beacon. (Mercer is only a few streets down from Montgomery).
Unless you have a disability you probably don't need to take a shuttle to the square . . . although I'm sure it is quicker and safer than walking.

Know this area. Directly across from Beacon on other side of Montgomery. There's a Chinese restaurant and a video store on the west side of Summit. But I think think was slightly farther north at Mercer St.

A Jersey City man was robbed at gunpoint as he entered a store near Journal Square Tuesday evening, police said.

The 40-year-old victim told police he was robbed before 7 p.m. as headed into a store at the intersection of Mercer Street and Summit Avenue.

The Baldwin Avenue resident told police that a young man in a brown hoodie pulled out a small silver revolver and demanded his wallet, reports said.

The victim handed over his wallet, which contained $220 and credit cards, and the robber fled on foot.
