And our Mayor says crime is down and Jersey City streets are safer than ever. If we vote him in for Mayor again we are crazy.

McDonalds - a family restaurant tag !

Can someone please rob me at McDonalds - We'll split the money after the legal action. This will help stop any possible foreclosures!

So 8 days worth of junk food. The Beatles stated "8 DAYS a WEEK"

So long as McDonalds wasn't held up, who gives a crap about the customers - I see someone getting sued, or even a corporation!

Boy, I work around the corner from this place. I've only been there once. It is brand new and looks real nice. But, if we are not safe in broad daylight in a busy restaurant, ...

Cops: Teen, buddy mugged in broad daylight in Journal Square McDonald's

Posted by mschmidt January 22, 2009 16:09PM

A 14-year-old Jersey City boy and his friend were robbed by a man who put him in a headlock and demanded their money inside a Journal Square fast food restaurant yesterday morning, police said today.

The boy and his mother went to police at 12:30 p.m. and he told them he and his friend were in McDonald's at 11:30 a.m. when a man in put him in a headlock and said, "Run your pockets," reports said. The boy handed over $6 and his friend handed over $10, reports said.

The victim described the robber as being about 30 years old, very dirty and possibly homeless, reports said. They said the man was wearing dark jeans, dark shoes and a black hooded sweatshirt with silver icons on the hood. His hair was pulled back in a ponytail, reports said.

It's not clear based on the police report if customers in the restaurant saw what was happening or if anyone came to the boys' aid.

Francisco Barahona, manager of the McDonald's, told The Jersey Journal this afternoon that the staff didn't see the robbery but it was captured on store security video and a copy was given to police.

"We saw the kids eating on the table and one guy was sitting on the side and he got up and got close to them," Barahona said. "He looked like he was talking to them but it looks like he robbed them."

Police went to Journal Square to look for the man but he was gone, reports said.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Jersey City Police Department tipline at (201) 547-JAIL.
