Bitten by mozzies - not the rat!
![]() I was a little freaked out (about the rat) because it was really close to my table and the kitchen at More is open to the garden area. NO one else at my table was overly bothered though..

So wait, in your first post on the subject you "noticed" a rat, and in your follow-up, you were bitten multiple times? I'm hoping you mean you were bitten by mosquitos and not by a rat.

I would worry more about the mosquitoes there. Packing 'off' with me next time I eat in the backyard. Their food is totally worth braving these critters.

RE: Thoughts?
How could you not invite it over to your table while you enjoy your delicious meal while at his home? That is just plain rude. Did you think you were not being filmed for the sequel of Ratatouille? That might explain not minding your manners. And yes, I'm a big fan of the establishment. More totally rocks.

Was there on Friday night for dinner. I really like the food there - nice and spicy! We sat in the garden and as we finished our dinner we noticed a rat that was digging and moving around at the bottom of the garden area. Thoughts?

Finally had the chance to try - I had the Lychee Duck Salad and it was Fabulous! My wife and daughter loved it more than what they ordered (sushi rolls / tempura) that they ate more of it that I did...
For appetizers we had the tuna tatare (excellent) and the calamari (perfect). the owner showed us the outside dining area in the back and it was lovely. Will definitely be regulars - oh and being BYOB should save me 25% of the bill I hope they don't change that...

the outdoor garden is so wonderful that I almost want to keep my rave to myself, lest it get completely overrun.
and +1 on the drunken noodles. (the pad see yoo is pretty awesome, too.) definitely going to be a regular summer evening haunt for me and mine.

I love the Tamarind Duck! Last time we went we ordered a bunch of appetizers and shared -- and that was our entire dinner...with a bottle of white wine. Great meal.

So, I am bumping this thread to report on my latest visit to More.
In the interest of full disclosure, this is my second visit to the restaurant. My first visit was nothing to write home about: the food was fresh, and good, but I wasn't overly impressed. I had decided at the time (which was soon after it had opened) that maybe the restaurant was still getting through some growing pains (quite understandable for any restaurant, really) and that I would give it another try later on. This second visit was a completely different experience. The food was GREAT, the service was good and overall it was a great experience. We ordered four dishes: a sushi roll, drunken noodles, tamarind duck and green curry. No dessert, or drinks. Since this is a BYO establishment, we brought a nice full-bodied cab and simply had some water before imbibing that bottle. The wife and I started things off with the sushi roll, which was called Funny Roll. The sushi was brought to the table in record time, and it was perfectly done. It was thick, but not messy. Taste was great, as well as texture. As an added plus, they are running a Spring special where all sushi is 20% off. So, things got off to a good start. Next up were the Drunken Noodles. I am a big fan of Drunken Noodles, but I find that most places either overcook the noodles, or serve up a version that is not fully to my liking. Their version was EXCELLENT. Wide, chewy noodles, and lots of flavor. I would have preferred for the noodles to be spicier, but they were very good nonetheless. Definitely would order them again. Lastly, our entrees: I had the Green Curry, while my wife had the Tamarind Duck. The duck was simply out-of-this-world good. Nice and crunchy outside, but tender on the inside. The tamarind sauce was tangy and sweet all at once. The duck was served over some vegetables with a side of rice. The veggies were perfectly steamed: cooked, but not overdone, so they were firm and tasty. The Green Curry, which during a previous visit had been somewhat underpar, was also excellent. For starters, the aroma emanating from it could have easily filled up the whole room. The sauce was thicker than during my previous visit and definitely had more flavor to it. I really enjoyed the way it tasted, and I just devoured the whole thing. If you are planning on ordering this dish, keep in mind that it is very spicy, which is just the way I like it, but could be a problem for others. I suppose you could ask them to tone it down if you so desire. In any case, it was tasty, spicy and delicious. So, the food tasted great and the presentation was spot on. Really nice plating, and none of it with chips or cracks. Everything was delivered to our table piping hot and right on cue, and in the order that had been requested. Couldn't ask for anything more, really. One thing that we really appreciated was that we never felt rushed, which is often a problem with restaurants in the NY/NJ area. After paying the bill, we stayed behind finishing our wine bottle and never felt pressured to leave, nor did we get the oh-so-obvious stares that would normally be directed your way at other places where they clearly want you to leave. Hopefully, they will make it in the long run. The place wasn't packed, but they did have at least seven or eight tables occupied: 2 outside, the rest in the dining room. I didn't look in the outdoor garden, so I can't comment on it. In case you care to know, we spent $51 for all of that food. With tax and tip, the total bill was $67.

They have really good Pai Thai. my veggie friend loves it. whenever she comes down to visit we order from there. i have never eaten there. they are good lunch specials but they have a 12 dollar minimum for delivery.. doesn't make sense when the lunch special is only $9 bucks.
Their California Roll sucks. I got it and it was just a crab stick wrapped in seaweed and rice.

I get sushi for More and they've always been very good! I order a special chirashi dinner for me and they make a masterpiece!
Quick delivery and a great variety. *they also will make a special desert that I don't believe is on the menu. For all of you coconut lovers, ask them for coconut custard. A must try! J

I went to More this weekend for the first time with 3 other people. The staff was friendly, the food was good, and when we left the place was full. I would definitely go again, and I highly recommend it.
Just remember if you go, that it's BYOB!

I've been there three times. I live really close but don't go out to eat often. We've really enjoyed it. I like byob's! I also tend to be picky about thai (both my partner & i dislike peanuts). We've only once chosen an entree we didn't like but it was duck and we forgot how gamey it is. Check it out. I think you'll like it.
Also we tried one sushi roll last time and it was good. also came out SUPER fast. We were going to compare sushi prices and just go with cheapest now with other normal sushi delivery/takeout (wild fusion).

Had some take out for lunch today. The fried rice w/pineapples - absolutely delicious as was the soft shell crab salad. Didn't seem like alot of food for $18. I know I will be starving in an hour. I do wish they had lunch specials.

The ambiance and the people are very nice. The thai dishes are very tasty and presented nicely. However, the sushi is terrible. For anyone who knows sushi, or has dined at some finer places knows exactly what I mean. Very disappointed in the sushi. Rice was old, pieces were poorly made varying in size even from the same roll, and the fish was far from good fresh cuts.
I will not return for any sushi at all. But like I said, the Thai dishes are quite good, as well as the ambiance and the people. Prices are fair, if not a bit on the cheap side. Go and check it out for a weekday meal, but at all costs... AVOID the sushi.

Ate in the garden a few nights ago. Great atmosphere, good service and good food. It's BYOB and you can buy from the Merchant at a discount.
I hope they stick around for awhile.

went to More last night for dinner, wasn't too bad... trademark thai iced tea was good, green salmon was ok... unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to check out the back since it was drizzling outside... fire alarm went off during dinner and 2 fire dept's came in about 5 minutes to check out the issue, most likely due to some smoke in the kitchen... noticed that they have workers there that are from Sawadee on Newark... asked the waitress and she mentioned that they are "partners" w/ Sawadee... interesting to see all these asian fusion spots putting up in jc... supposedly there's going to be another on Grove, between Newark and Bay (which is right around the corner from me)... don't see why i wouldn't go back to More, but then I again, I wasn't really blown away...

Stopped by MORE this afternoon for lunch, though I hadn't seen this thread before.
Parkman, they actually have your posted printed out and taped up in the front window. Seems like a good opportunity for a serious troll to print out kellalot's post and secretly replace it in the window. Then just camp out to watch the horrified response from passers-by who read it. I wonder how long it would take the staff to notice? (Don't do this, please.) Anyway, I found it quite enjoyable to sit out in the back garden, though it did make me long for the old days of having breakfast there when it was Holliday's. (Speaking of, whatever happened to the wonderful Jon Bon Jovi / Davie Bowie character who owned the place? He was always beyond gracious to anyone who came in.) My friend and I both ordered sushi lunch specials, two rolls for $8.50 and they came with soup or salad. The miso soup was decent (I find that it tends to taste the same wherever you go) and we shared a Shumai appetizer that was terrific. We each ordered a crispy salmon roll--I found it uninspiring--but the shrimp & cucumber roll was much better. The rolls were fairly large and it was quite a filling lunch for the price. I also had an iced green tea which was very good, served in a tall glass with a fresh mint leaf. I don't think they charged us for the drinks, so the bill came out to only $23 all together--quite a reasonable price for a sushi lunch for two including an appetizer. The menu of special rolls looked interesting, but the prices seemed more appropriate for a fancy dinner: about $15-$20 per roll. Next time I'll probably try some of the Thai choices, as many of them looked promising. Of course, should I experience some sort of catastrophic gastrointestinal failure in the next 48 hours, I may wish to avoid it all together. Personally, I'll be happy to trust wikipedia's description of keriorrhoea as I have little interest in experiencing it for myself. So far, so good...

Just got back from trying out More and was pleasantly surprised to see the nice Thai waitress from Sawadee. My friend and I didn't really try any sushi but instead decided to go with the usual Thai/Malaysian staples to test out. The basil chicken and pad thai were quite good and I found the portions to be of just the right size.
I would definitely pick More over Sawadee or Fusion.
