Get a folding bike it's PATH friendly. There are a few threads about folding bikes on jclist.

There are two buses that go from where you are to downtown. Both go down Montgomery. One turns left on Jersey Avenue, right on Newark and goes to Newport Mall. The other turns left on Grove Street, right on Columbus and goes to Exchange Place. Or, maybe, it's the other way around.
Anyway, they run every 20 minutes or so, with not much of a regular schedule, but they're good for what they're good for. You can pick them up on West Side Avenue or walk over to Montgomery and pick them up there. Fare is $1.20, I think.

get a bike! it's a straight shot down the hill. You can pick up a cheap beater bike for under $100. Other than that, your best bet is to walk up to the Journal Square PATH station and catch a train. I wouldn't recommend walking there, especially late at night. gets a little sketchy down by the beacon/projects next to them.

Hello all. I just moved into Jersey City and so far have really enjoyed reading all the postings on the message board. Great information about places to eat, things to do, and the Jersey City community.
I was curious of two things that I was hoping I could get some help with: 1. I live by St. Peters College. Is there a way to get up to Grove St/Exchange Place that is quick and easy. Ideally I'm thinking of a bus that goes up Montgomery, but the Nj Transit Rt. 80 line seems to go out of the way (over to Journal Square first). 2. Has anyone ever heard of the Jersey City Poker Player's Club? I've seen a lot of links for it online, but am unsure if I want to go on my own to a poker game in a city that I'm unfamiliar with. I look forward to all of your responses and my experience in Jersey City.
