sorry for the name misspelling... i'm a bad speller.
as for this: I'm pretty sure that by definition all graffiti is vandalism. If it is legally sanctioned, it becomes graffiti-style art or something. i totally agree. there's some wherehouse backlot/corner i've seen in queens or the bronx, where artists are allowed to paint the buildings... it's really amazing to look at. and yeah, i sort of consider graffitti "artists" and taggers, not.

I never refuted the vandalism claim.
I just took langdonalger's comment as a sort of elitism from a fan of so-called "graffiti art". It seems as though he/she claims that this "honky's begone" is too rudimentry or something to be considered graffiti. I'm pretty sure that by definition all graffiti is vandalism. If it is legally sanctioned, it becomes graffiti-style art or something. Oh, and it's reggay, not reggae. Like my namesake, the popular semi-fictional band, the Reggays, not like the musical genre, mon. Okay. I and I gotta go.

willful or malicious destruction or defacement of public or private property

On the SE corner of sussex and warren, someone wrote resist. It was in blue paint on the sidewalk in cursive.

Anyone want to report this?
I tried once No disrespect. This is like a mini memorial, but its not appealing to the city. The can have all the things there, but not write it on the wall. (By the way, every night like 10 peopel hang out there, i guess showing respect. If its removed, it might come back)

Hello all.
Last time, I sent out a photo of graffitti/tagging, someone actually recognized the name as a dance group. So please take a look and let me know. Also, if you have been tagged, please let Jersey City Incinerator Authority know since they handle these matters. If you can take a photo of the graffitti, I will report it to the Community Relations Officer as well as the other Community Relations Officers. On Saturday Night 9/15 at 9PM I observed two kids tagging in Hamilton Park. Here's a description - two white males age about 12 to 14. One 5' tall wearing a gray hoodie an the other 5'6" with a black hoodie and carrying a messenger pack - probably filled with markers/spray paint.
We reported it to the non-emergency # 201-547-5477, but by then they were long gone.

The problem with this approach is that some artists and gangstas would be jerks, but at least the system would give mellow graffiti artists and building owners a chance to find one another. Another possible approach: maybe Craigslist could create a real estate subsection for building owners who want graffiti art on their buildings and artists who want to paint it. (If there is already a section like this on Craigslist, never mind.)

Some of the graffiti is beautiful... but if I got to my store one day and my gates were covered with it I'd be pissed... it's not the look or the style that I want on my private property... if they'd like to do it on a big canvas or piece of plywood and leave it leaning against the front of my house, then I wouldn't mind so much.... I could find a proper place to display it. :) I'd also like some guitar bodies done btw.... ;)

pieces = (street) art, and take a lot talent... tags are also ok depending on a writers hand style... the list goes on and on for my favorite writers around the world... but for JC specifically, cease, kaws, loser, tdee, what 4, just to name a few... msk crew has some good writers...
i know a lot of graffiti writers who work for big name designers... nike, adidas, phat farm, echo, gap, etc... so graf writers have talent... as far the little tags, from hoodlums that don't know anything about graffiti... i could agree...

I don't see the beauty in stuff like the fence on Erie around 4th street where someone spray painted "Honky Begone". It's been there a while.
I imagine if someone spray painted a swastika, or a racist term for any other group of people, it would cause some sort of hue and cry and get removed, no?

Ok guys.. there is a difference between "pieces" like the ceaze one featured in this string, and wack shit that kids (toys) write that take less than a minute to write and have no style or thought put into it. We live in a CITY if you cant see the beauty in it then move to the burbs. Or at least watch Style Wars or Wild Style to understand that this is a form of urban expression. Artists make a living doing work like that in this string. Ceaze is a very accomplished artist, along with his crew.

Most kids graffitti on buildings for people to see... To get their name out.
"Tags" or simple signatures are put in the most visible places. For larger "pieces" its the same thing but of course it takes longer to finish so they need someplace visible but also safe for them to do their "work".
