I have to agree with 81905 - Bulldoze the 'Gardens'.

The experiment of building over 1000 units for families in a close and closed, multi-level confined area in 1950 has turned into a breeding ground for crime and dysfuntional families that is intertwined with struggling hardworking folk, trying to keep their heads above water.

Unfortunately the ass-wipe thugs, seem to be other residents preying on others with no escape for the working poor that shouldn't include being exposed to serious crime or harassment on a regular basis.

There should be a 24/7 manned police station in the heart of the 'Gardens'

Just another weekend in lovely Montgomery Gardens. Has the city government just become so desensitized to the activities that happen there almost daily that they just let it slide? When will that nightmare of a project finally hear the gentle grumble of a few 5 ton bulldozers?

Man shot 5 times by attacker in housing complex stairwell

Monday, June 04, 2007

A man in his mid-40s was shot five times by an unknown assailant in a Jersey City public housing complex yesterday, police reports said.

When police arrived at the Montgomery Gardens, they found a man lying on his left side, bleeding from multiple gunshot wounds. The man said he was shot by a stranger around 5:30 a.m. while in the eighth-floor stairwell of the housing complex, reports said.

He was taken to Jersey City Medical Center and treated for five gunshot wounds, including one in the chest, lower back and thigh, and two in the right buttock, sources said. Police said the man was in critical condition but an update could not be obtained last night from the Jersey City Medical Center.

Police are still looking for the shooter who was wearing a white T-shirt. Anyone with information should call (201) 547-JAIL.
