PS 28 is a fine school: you won't be disappointed. If you want to meet parents and talk about their experiences there, just go over at dismissal time and introduce yourself. I have never been brushed off- other parents love to talk about their kids and schools. Just like you. You will be surprised at the similarities. The vast majority have the same concerns as you.

Thank you for the feedback - I never know where to go for this stuff. I just joined this group on Yahoo groups, so I feel a little better, too... http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jcschools/

I just attended the Pre-K Workshop the BOE sponsored at School #17 and met 1 lead teacher from #28 in the heights. She spoke highly of the school and had a slide show of what to expect in the classroom and schedule.

I really enjoyed meeting the teachers and seeing the several presentations. I felt better knowing what to expect in the schools.

It was a shame that this workshop was not known to others. I asked them if they could come again. I will post again on a different thread.

I've asked that exact same question several times here and gotten no answers here, but I met some people at Subia's who seemed to be on the same wavelength as me in terms of what they thought a school should be like, and they said they really like P.S. 27 and P.S. 28.

I have pretty much decided to send my 5-year old daughter to p.s. 28 in the heights. While I have heard that this is a "very good school", I have yet to meet another parent who has sent their child to Kindergarten there.Unfortunately, they don't allow parents to roam the hallways & meet with the teachers or sit in on the classrooms. While I still have another private school option, I really feel we should give the public school a try, especially since we have lived there for 6 years and have made a commitment to stay in the area.I would love to speak to other moms/dads in the heights who are going through similar circumstances.
