that's insane. I was wondering why there was so much campaign literature being handed out. Why so much money for the school board?

Outside groups spent $600K in Jersey City school board race

Two independent expenditure groups spent nearly $600,000 on behalf of six candidates in this year's Jersey City school board race.

The final campaign finance documents for the 10-candidate Jersey City election show Garden State Forward, the statewide teachers union's PAC, shelled out $338,584 on behalf of their preferred candidates, while education reform group Better Education for NJ Kids spent $252,762, for a total of $591,346.

No other local school race attracted any outside spending, according to the state Election Law Enforcement Commission.
