JERSEY CITY ? Charges have been dropped against a Saint Peter's University student who was arrested last month on allegations that he raped a fellow student in a dorm room, authorities said.

Jean S. Jecrois, 19, who spent 20 days in Hudson County jail on an original $250,000 bail, vigorously denied the accusation during an interview with The Jersey Journal after he was released on his own recognizance earlier this month. Today, Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Debra Simon said the second-degree sexual assault charge against Jecrois was dropped yesterday.

The charge was "administratively dismissed" and never went to a grand jury, she said, declining to comment further.

Jecrois, who was interviewed by The Jersey Journal in early December, declined a second interview today.
