Good that they all finally got caught but it's strange that, that shooting also happened at 4am.

Three Jersey City men have been charged in the shooting death of a Jersey City man last week, the same homicide in which the man who gunned down Police Officer Melvin Santiago was wanted, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office announced this morning.

Daniel Wilson, 23, Rashid A. Bronk, 22, and Rafael A. Torres Jr., 27, have been charged with with felony murder and carjacking degree in the death of 26-year-old Michael Siegel on Jewett Avenue on July 10.

Wilson, who authorities said was being sought along with Lawrence Campbell after Campbell was killed by police after he fatally shot Santiago, was arrested and charged with firearms and drug offenses later that day.

Bronk's bail was set at $350,000 cash only, while bail for Wilson was set at $500,000 cash only and bail for Torres was set at $250,000 cash or bond, Hudson County Acting Prosecutor Guy Gregory said in a news releases.

You would think the JCPD would stack a greater number of officers on the afternoon and grave yard shifts, then the daytime one !
Crime in general yes, but most of the shootings and murders in JC (and the rest of NJ) are gang related. It isn't like the 90's when most shootings were turf wars between drug crews. Now a days drugs dont even have to be involved to start a gang war. Not saying this specific shooting was gang related though.

Hudson County homicide investigators have released the identity of the man who was fatally shot while in a vehicle on Jewett Avenue early yesterday.

Michael Siegel, 26, of Jersey City, was pronounced dead at the Jersey City Medical Center at 12:12 a.m. this morning, Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Gene Rubino said.

Siegel was sitting in his car near West Side Avenue at 4 a.m. when he was shot in the upper body. He was rushed to the Jersey City Medical Center, where he was initially listed in critical condition, Rubino said.

Siegel?s death is the 14th murder in Jersey City this year.

Rubino said the investigation by Jersey City police and the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office is active and witnesses are being interviewed, but no arrest has yet been made.

An autopsy is to be performed on Siegel tomorrow at the state Regional Medical Examiner?s office in Newark, Rubino said.

Following the shooting, a resident told The Jersey Journal that he was told by police that the victim lost control of his vehicle after being shot and crashed into his parked car. The resident?s car suffered considerable damage to its right side.

There was no one home at Siegel?s residence this evening.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Hudson County Prosecutor?s Office?s Homicide Squad at 201-915-1345.

Someone was shot early this morning on Jewett Avenue in Jersey City, according to freelance photographer Joe Shine, who was at the scene soon after the shooting.

The incident occurred between John F. Kennedy Boulevard and West Side Avenue, and left people in the neighborhood stunned.

A neighborhood man, whose car was damaged in the incident, believes that someone was shot while driving on the street. The man, who did not want to disclose his name, had substantial damage of the right side of his automobile.
