I live in this area, you have to worry about the occasional dog shit. I prefer taking the path to grove street as I think the walk is nicer/safer (10 minute walk tops)

Sorry...I should have done a better forum search before I posted this. Didn't realize there were so many similar posts.

Also wasn't sure if the Park was called Jones, Enos Jones or the Oaks (called out differently on maps).

Thanks for the feedback!

I recently moved to the neighborhood OP asks about. I was in Harsimus Cove for years before that. Personally I never felt threatened in either neighborhood. The Hamilton Park area generally has much less foot traffic than HC. However, the White Star seems to guarantee at least some activity later at night. Granted, all this from the perspective of a 6' dude.

I will say that in the two occasions my street-parked car was left unlocked overnight on any streets between 9th and 8th, it has been "explored". My bonehead move both times, and nothing was ever broken. However that never happened in the old micro-hood.

Tern - what do you call the park west of Hamilton Park?

I took them as a positive indication that more people, single women especially, are considering moving to JC. First you read about JC in the media then you try to get some more information. Since almost all the feedback to the OP is positive, if the purpose of the threads is to get people to badmouth JC they have failed.

Jones Park? When did it become abbreviated to that?

Not that anyone ever called it Enos Jones Park, but it certainly isn't called "Jones Park" as Google maps seem to have christened it.

Robin.

It is interesting how many of these threads have popped up recently. It's a perfectly safe neighborhood, one of the best in JC. It's a bit of a walk from the PATH, but you have nothing to worry about.

I'm considering an apartment between Jones Park and Hamilton Park (closer to Jones). Is it generally safe for a single woman? I work late at night and would be walking to this area from the Grove or Newport Path stations. Thanks for your time - I'd appreciate your opinions.
