Once a year, my company looks for volunteers to read to children. I don't remember the name of the school or agency.

I am thinking that it was the Learning Community Charter School, 2495 Kennedy Boulevard, Jersey City, NJ 07304
Phone: 201-332-0900

Maybe the library or the Boys and Girls Club have something.

Here is a website for volunteering:

Thanks for the heads up. I was looking for something more academic though, like tutoring or related.

Try http://sustainablejc.org/wordpress/ or the Reservoir http://www.jcreservoir.org/
Sustainable J.C. is an environmental group of various green organizations geared toward preserving our natural resources. The group is always looking for folks to join in their cause. They meet twice per month at the Hudson County Community College once for monthly Green Drinks events and and the other for classroom lectures. The Reservoir is a lake converted from an old water reservoir located up in the Heights next t oPershing Field Park. They are always looking for help to man the gates for visitors or helping out during the fishing season.

I find myself with a lot of time on my hands temporarily. I would like to make good use of it by volunteering for something or other. Ideally, it would be academic in nature. I can either do this from home or go to a location within Jersey City. Does anyone know how to go about this?
