Steve Fulop becomes Jersey City mayor in private ceremony at City Hall

Fulop, the son of European immigrants and a former Wall Street trader who has pledged to transform Jersey City, became the city's 49th mayor at just after midnight today. Fulop, 36, said after the ceremony that he "couldn't be more excited." He understands the "unbelievable responsibility" voters have placed in him, he said.
