Not convinced they got them all. Hope they don't dissolve the task force now.

I wonder if they were the same people who did the carjacking at Newport and Shoprite?

JERSEY CITY ? Two felons have been charged in separate Jersey City carjackings and the work of a task force formed to stem the rising rate of carjackings in the area is ongoing, police said today.
"I'm proud of the effort of the Jersey City Police Department," said Police Chief Tom Comey of the probe leading to the arrest of Eduardo Rodriguez, 23, of Belleville, and Louis K. Holmes, 23, of Newark.

"Apparently, they are responsible for a crime spree throughout the area," Comey said. "We are currently working with outside agencies to ensure that they are brought to justice, not only in our city, but in other jurisdictions."

Eduardo Rodriguez, 23, of Belleville, was charged Monday with carjacking, conspiracy to commit carjacking, robbery, and weapons offenses, including possession of a firearm by a felon, in connection to an Oct. 19 carjacking on Route 1&9 near Route. 7, reports say.
When charged, Rodgriguez was already in custody from his March 5 arrest on the charges of carjacking, conspiracy to commit carjacking, robbery, and the weapons offenses, in connection to a Jan. 1 carjacking on Newark Avenue, reports say.

Luis Arroyo, 29, of Newark was also arrested on March 5 and charged with carjacking, conspiracy to commit carjacking, robbery, and weapons offenses related to handguns in connection to the Newark Avenue carjacking, police reports say.

In the Newark Avenue carjacking, two men pointed silver handguns at the victim and threatened to shoot him before taking his 4-door black Mercedes-Benz 450 series around 9:30 a.m., the complaints say. During the carjacking the pair also took the victim's cellphone and $200, the complaints say.
In the Route 1&9 incident, a Jersey City woman told police her BMW M3 was rear-ended at 12:08 a.m. by the silver Mercedes, reports said. She said when she got out, a man wearing a ski mask pointed a gun at her head, jumped into the BMW and drove off, reports said. He purse, containing about $500 and valuables was also taken, reports said.

Holmes was arrested Monday and charged with carjacking, robbery, and weapons offenses in connection to a March 27 carjacking at the McDonald's restaurant at Communipaw and Mallory, reports say.

On March 27, the owner of the 2010 Nissan Maxima was returning to his vehicle outside a McDonald's restaurant at about 10 p.m. when a man pointed a silver pistol at him and said, "You know what time it is," police reports said. The gunman took the man's wallet, ordered his 70-year-old mother out of the car and drove away, reports said.

All three men charged have extensive criminal records and have served time in state prison, corrections records say.
Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio said last month that a rise in the number of carjackings in Jersey City and the surrounding area prompted formation of a task formed of investigators from his office, Jersey City police and other agencies.
Twenty-five carjackings have been reported in Jersey City in the six-month period ending in mid March, compared with only 17 during this same stretch a year ago, police said.
