JCbiscuit - actually - it's BOTH Mayors - Weekhawken AND Hobroken... i was referencing this activity:

Scroll Way Down to read:
8/16/2010:
Hoboken Unleashed has a lease for 1714 Willow Ave.
?but Mayor Zimmer moved the Municipal Garage there anyway!

Mike Stigliano is unleashing his attorneys on Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer. The co-owner of the Hoboken Unleashed doggie day care and spa will be in Hudson County Superior Court today explaining how Zimmer moved the municipal garage to 1714 Willow despite the fact that he has a lease for the property. Stigliano pays the building owner to protect his rights to the location where he plans to relocate and improve his thriving business.

Zimmer placed his plan in jeopardy by striking a deal to pay his landlord twice as much as he was to move garage operations to the site.

It's common practice for collars to be removed at doggie daycare, so the animals don't accidentally hang themselves (which happened at the same facility, under it's previous ownership, within one week of opening).

Ouch. Rough start for a business.

both of these stories concern a property dispute, and have zero to do with the actual care of animals. (I'm not defending the joint, just trying to keep on topic here.)

I found the following details interesting:

? Other than the dog dying in JC, all the events took place in Hoboken. The dog ran away to Jersey City, instead of going home!

? The article calls the place "Doggie Daycare," and it seems to be part of the business name, but obviously, if the dog escaped on Friday, and the business owner called on Monday, and apparently the dog owners took no action, the dog was being kenneled there.

? The dog had no tags. Why is that? Really, tag your dogs, owners, especially if you are going to kennel them.

? Apparently, you have to pay to put your posters at the bulletin board at the A&P.

There is probably a lot more to this story than what was written.

I hate to think of what my husband would do if someone let our dog out to die--it would probably involve copious amounts of alcohol and a hole in the yard--but it would not include harming any human, poster or no poster. They should man up. If the owner is making POSTERS, he isn't shooting anyone.

Accidents happen. Dogs get disoriented and frightened, and run off to find their owners. My furkid has certainly done his share of running around the neighborhood, and we are just plain lucky he hasn't been killed.

Someone writes ?Unleashed Doggie Day Care Irresponsible Killed Rusty! RIP Rusty,? on a poster causes this business owner to file a harassment complaint against the owner of the dog that was killed???

Unbelievable and disgusting!

More good news.
This is awful. The poor dog was found dead in Jersey City.
Can anyone find any other reports on this story?

After Death Of Dog, Doggie Daycare Owner Files Harassment Report
After escaped dog gets hit by car, owner says he fears for the safety of his employees.

The owner of a Clinton Street doggie daycare filed a harassment report on Friday, after two employees found a message about a dog who escaped taped to a public bulletin board at an A&P grocery store, according to police reports.

A dog in the care of Hoboken Unleashed escaped through a rear service door two weeks ago, was hit by a car and died.

Business owner Michael Stigliano, 32, told police that he called animal control the day the dog, Rusty, escaped, but that he was unable to reach anyone because of the Passover and Easter holidays, according to police reports. Stigliano said he also called police.

Stigliano called animal control again the following Monday, according to police reports, and spoke to an animal control worker who told him that the dog had been hit by a car and died late Saturday night in Jersey City. The body was disposed of because the dog had no tags.

Since the incident, Stigliano said there have been disparaging messages about his business posted on a blog and a post on the business?s Facebook page.

Last Thursday around 9 p.m., two of Stigliano?s employees went to the nearby A&P Supermarket, where Hoboken Unleashed has a paid advertisement poster on a bulletin board. On the poster, there was a white sign with black lettering that read: ?Unleashed Doggie Day Care Irresponsible Killed Rusty! RIP Rusty,? according to reports.

Police said one of the employees removed the poster and brought it back to the business to show the owner and told the owner that they do not feel safe and want to leave work in groups.

Stigliano told police he wanted to report the most recent incident in case the situation gets worse.

Police have filed the sign as evidence.
