A Jersey City man whose car slammed into a Heights building Saturday was later charged with driving while intoxicated, officials said yesterday.
Officer responding to New York Avenue and Bowers Street at 11:35 p.m. found the car had plowed into the side of a deli; and the driver, Malvin R. Morel, 20, of Prospect Street, was standing beside the vehicle, was ?very incoherent,? smelled of alcohol, was slurring his words and stumbling, reports said.
He was taken to the Port Authority police station at the Holland Tunnel, where a Breathalyzer test showed his blood alcohol level was above the legal limit, reports said.
Morel?s car was impounded and he was also issued summonses for careless driving and reckless driving, reports said.
