In typical Jersey Journal fashion, reporting 30% of the story. They should just publish headlines. "Major disaster hits Jersey City." Then have a paragraph of copy under it talking about a school's football team. Sadly, that's the value of this paper these days.

This happened way back in February. I was just wondering if any one on the block heard anything further about the ?accident?. Did the woman whose car was hit get any information?

For a Jersey City police officer? Any of the above is freakin' possible!

Oh, and for the JCPD, we forgot "roid rage" and/or major psychological issues on the list of feasible causes.

It wasn't a simple side-swipe here or a case of a wide turn catching a fender. This cop hit this car full on and squared up and even ended up on the sidewalk a bit. Was it a case of being in D when he thought he was in R? Was it a medical issue? A compensation attempt? A personal beef with the Audi owner? A brain fart?

you'd be surprised at how much damage a car doing just 20 MPH can inflict on a stationary object -- especially a crown victoria

I walked by the accident after it happened. That police officer had to be cruising at some real speed to demolish the Audi the way he did. Her trunk was in the back seat. The back of her car ended up on the sidewalk and the front out on Brunswick. No 20 MPH in my opinion. On top of that he pushed her into a Toyota, which in turn was pushed into the Honda SUV in front of it. So when will we find out what really happened and who the officer was? The poor woman that owned that Audi was shocked when she came to move her car a little while after the accident. You would have thought that the PD would have notified her when the accident happened. She stood there dumbfounded! Can't blame her for being a little pissed off !

Now that couldn't be simpler. The police car had its lights and siren on, and the Audi didn't move. A simple "Failure to yield" would work in this case.

Could be fatigue and he fell asleep. Hope he's okay, now how do they find a way to give the Audi owner a ticket?

i was parked across the street and was present when the owner of the audi arrived at the scene; by then the cruiser, ambulance, and fire truck were gone. had no idea it was a cop. i had actually assumed it was a hit-and-run by an intoxicated driver at the time.

i hope there is a reasonable explanation for this crash -- perhaps he swerved to avoid hitting one of the cats that lives in the grassy lot near the scene? -- the cruiser must've been doing at least 20 mph when it hit that car.

Strange?.

Jersey City cop injured when cruiser crashes into parked car

A Jersey City police officer was injured this morning when his cruiser crashed into the back of a parked car on Brunswick Street.

The police officer, whose name was not immediately available, was fitted with a neck brace and placed on a stretcher and taken by ambulance to the Jersey City Medical Center.

The cruiser suffered heavy damage to the front end and the parked car suffered heavy damage to the trunk area. A third vehicle, parked in front of the car that was struck initially, also suffered some damage when it was struck in the chain reaction.

Full piece with pictures...(I hope they weren't any JClist members cars)
