Jersey City fire officials treating blaze in linen supply company's garage as suspicious

Published: Tuesday, October 25, 2011, 3:00 AM
By Charles Hack/The Jersey Journal

Jersey City fire inspectors are treating Saturday?s three-alarm blaze that ripped through a garage used by a downtown linen supply company as suspicious.

Noting firefighters responded last month to a fire at the same location, 417 Third St., near Merseles Street. Fire Director Armando Roman said the fire is being treated as suspicious.

Roman said the garage is attached to a building used by Home Linen Supply Co. and was used to store vehicles to transport the laundered linens, officials said. Several of the vehicles were damaged.

A third of the roof collapsed with firefighters inside the garage and one firefighter was treated for a knee injury and released from Jersey City Medical Center, officials said.

The fire was called in at 1:54 a.m. and put under control at 5:17 a.m., Roman said.

Ok I may be daffy but a fire in a laundry service place ( not for the public ) for the 2nd time in 4 weeks is odd.I asked the fireman and he said sometimes people leave things behind. Humm. They told me that the building must now come down. Humm.I see London I see France I see a new condo place.Maybe when the fire marshall stops smelling smoke maybe he can smell insurance fraud. Just say'n.
