Two Newark residents in jail for Jersey City robbery charge get Bayonne rap added yesterday

Two Newark residents, in jail since being charged with robbery in Jersey City on May 17, were yesterday charged with an armed robbery that occurred in Bayonne on May 14, police said.

A witness to the Bayonne robbery told police that they recognized the pair from a story that appeared in The Jersey Journal about the robbery in Jersey City.

Tracy S. Hannah, 36, and Lawrence Brown, 37, were charged yesterday with robbing a 23-year-old man and 34-year-old man, both residents of Bayonne, on Lord Avenue between East First and Second streets at 4:07 a.m. on May 14, Bayonne police said.

One of the victims said he was walking with a group of friends when they noticed a small dark vehicle circling the block, police said.

After parking the car, two men got out and walked toward the group, with one of them pointing a black handgun, reports said.

The robbers took a cell phone, debit cards and $300 in cash before getting back into the car and driving away toward East First Street, police said.

On May 18, the witness who read The Jersey Journal story contacted Bayonne police.

After police had conducted an investigation, the witness was able to positively identify the two suspects, who have been incarcerated at the Hudson County Jail in Kearny since May 17, police said.

In regard to the Bayonne robbery, both men were charged with robbery and conspiracy, police said.

Brown was additionally charged with certain persons not to have weapons, unlawful possession of a handgun and possession of handgun for an unlawful purpose, reports said.

Great job JCPD!!! Three more ANIMALS off the street but next time, execute them in the street. Why pay for them to live the rest of their lives in prison?

Following the 1 a.m. crashes at Wilkinson and Bergen avenues, police arrested Shaheed Fuller, 33, Tracy S. Hannah, 36, and Lawrence Brown, 37, all of Newark. Officers on patrol at Ocean and Bayview avenues heard a shot and spotted a man frantically yelling "Get them! Get them! They shot at me!" reports said, adding the robbery victim had been pinned to the ground when one of the suspects fired at him. The officers saw the suspects' vehicle speed away, turned on their lights and sirens, and gave chase, reports said. At Wilkinson and Bergen, the fleeing vehicle slammed into a parked car before reversing and striking the right front door of the police car and another parked car, reports said. That's when the officers and backup units were able to remove Hannah and Brown from the car after a struggle, reports said, adding that Fuller ran away but was caught. Police found a 9mm semiautomatic handgun with a 30-round clip on the car floor where Brown had been seated, reports said. The victim told police Fuller grabbed him from behind and wrestled him to the ground, reports said, adding that while Fuller held him, Brown fired a shot toward his head but missed.
