It seems like everytime there's a fight at Ferris or Snyder it's on the front page of the Jersey Journal. Why aren't good stories like this one in the paper? Jenn2213 is right. The school did win something from Intel. I remember there was a presentation about it at Back to School night in September. The prinicpal and some teachers were in Washington D.C. getting their award that night. I'm sure 28 isn't the only school achieving great things. I'm so tired of all the negative press when there are parents like me who support public education and would love to see more coverage of the positive things happening in the schools.

What an amazing honor for the kids, to win at the state level out of 250 schools in NJ. I know that their teachers are so proud of them and the residents, like me, are thrilled to see something so positive in our community. looking forward to June 4th for the opening day!! GO 28

This is just the kind of news you love to hear about our schools - actual EDUCATION! Looks like a really good project, linking learning in the classroom to a great public and neighborhood resource (the reservoir) and doing several things at once (science, arts, language & communications).

Congratulations to the kids and to teacher Maria Smagalla for a creative project. Well done!

My daughter goes to PS 28. It's a great school, even though it's not as well known as some of the downtown schools. I saw the work they did on this project. It was amazing. Good Job PS 28!

In this age of negative press about schools and education, I wanted to share some good news about one of Jersey City's schools...PS # 28 in the Heights was named a state winner in the national Disney Planet Challenge competition. This school was also named a national finalist in the Intel Corporation's Schools of Distinction competition in the fall.
