Yes, thanks. That was where I thought you were. I guess we will have to be careful over there.

Thanks

No worries! It was that gravel path that veers or curves away from the paved path that runs along Audrey Zapp. It seems like you are running off into a wooded area if you are coming from the light rail but it still runs parallel to Audrey Zapp and the marina. I hope that makes sense.

Stuff,
I am sorry but I still don't understand where the wolves were spotted? I am asking because we walk our dog along Audrey Zapp dr and want to make sure we don't encounter them. Thanks

Back in 2010 they made the group with a test bed of oysters pull them up. The DEP was afraid someone would poach the oyster and then sell them and make people sick.

From what I read recently, the re-introduction program is starting up again. They are going to seed Raritan Bay with oyster larva in the hopes that they will take hold.

The biggest pollution problem we have now is overloaded combined storm water / sewer systems during storms. The rest of our sewage is treated to the point where the discharged water is drinkable.

I just wish the state of NJ (and NY) would stop trying to blow cash on counterproductive green energy nonsense and would address the overflow issue. The issue engineering wise is straight forward to solve. It isn't a cheap fix though.

Fixing the problem would end beach closings due to high bacteria concentration and would go a long way to cleaning up our inland estuaries.

Look it up online. Back in the Summer of 2010, the NJ DEP banned all shellfish restoration programs in most bodies of water in the state.

I wish the DEP didn't kill the oyster re-introduction program. They were afraid people would harvest the oyster illegally and eat them.

That's where the OP's suggestion of "Coy Wolf" might be more accurate. This recent coyote in NYC also looks well fed. http://www.dnainfo.com/new-york/20150 ... new-york-city-experts-say

I know this post is 5 years old but I have to nominate it for the most absurd post in the history of JCList. Apparently there is nothing on the planet that can not be linked back to "liberals"

No, it was near the site of the old swimming pool and they were watching the cars go bye.

Those are just two strays dogs. Not wolves, hyenas, dingos, coyotes.

Yes, that is where I was when I saw them come out of the fenced off field.

They look like same breed/species, given the tail, shape, size, gait, and muzzle shape. I'd guess it would be rare to see two near identical domesticated dogs together like that.

Mail the link to the email at this site - they may be able to provide more insight. Coyotes would be my bet.

They look more just like dogs that have become wild. Too big to just be coyotes, too small to be a wolf. Plenty of space in LSP for them to hide out.

That first one looks like a coyote/coywolf, which wouldn't be surprising. They've been spotted here and there in Bayonne and Jersey City sporadically for the last few years. I don't know about that second one though. It could be a further hybridization between coyotes and dogs.

I saw two of them once from the light rail, behind the jcmc, eating a moderately sized animal. Probably a raccoon. It was so weird to see this in the middle of the city! To me they looked like some type of spitz dog.

My wife and I found a carcess of a Canadian goose that looked like it had been ripped to shreds by something behind the interpretive center. And, on the same walk, if you can believe it, we found the carcass of a dear on the beach due east of the center. It was badly decomposed. I suppose it could have floated down the river from along the Palisades? Still I always laugh that we seem to see more wildlife here then when we are up in the Adirondacks and similar places.

To qualify as an adult wolf, the animal should be large enough to be able to swallow a 6 month year old human baby whole (a loose definition). If you didn't piss yourself when you saw them, it's likely not a wolf (another loose definition).

Though it's a good idea to keep your distance from any wild animal, regardless of size. Even squirrels can be harmful, unintentionally.

Most likely coyotes. Sussex County loaded with them. Friend recently saw a bobcat (No. American Lynx) on Rt 15S in Jefferson area.

This article talks about possible wolf sightings in Essex county:

http://bit.ly/z9ecPi

Has anyone heard of wolves or coyotes appearing in Jersey City? Aside from the "Wolves in Liberty State Park" thread from 2010 ...

Exploited properly this rumor could mean international publicity! Anybody remember the movie "Alligator"? We could get Mama bear Sarah to hunt them from a helicopter! Where's Geraldo?

Next on FOX.... "The hunt for the Liberty wolf pack!"
