Delhi India is suffering from the same problem - Maybe cityhall can contact them for a shared solution !

You're right. Oh, and I just so happen to live on a corner. The whole situation really "stinks".

It is impossible to stand on a corner here and wait for
the traffic to allow you to cross.
Better to be hit by a car than die of strangulation from
the noxious miasma from the corner storm drain/sewers.

I believe the storm sewers have water filled traps like any other drain system to keep odors from escaping. If that trap is cracked and leaking, you no longer have a seal. But when the city was rebuilding every corner with new cuts and drains, I asked a crew if they were rebuilding the leaking traps, and got a stare. So I don't really know.

Combined Storm water and sewage. Everything runs through the same pipe. Which makes for hellish sewer backup during torrential downpour for some of us.
