Jersey City Councilman Fulop will speak about ethics tonight at Congregation B'nai Jacob

What does it mean to be an ethical person? In Jersey City it means a great deal.

Councilman Steven Fulop will discuss this concept this evening at 8 when he visits the Congregation B?nai Jacob, 176 West Side Ave.

?There?s no more relevant place than Jersey City,? Fulop told The Jewish Standard earlier this week about addressing the topic of ethics as part of the synagogue?s new Speakers Series, which began last month.

Ethics became a bigger issue than usual in Jersey City when people within the circle of Mayor Jerramiah Healy were handcuffed in last summer's massive FBI federal corruption arrests.

Healy's ethics also came into question when he was convicted in Bradley Beach in 2007 as result of a 2006 fight with police outside a tavern owned by his sister. The mayor has also been mentioned in federal complaints but has not been charged with any wrongdoing.

Expected to run for mayor in 2013, Fulop said he hopes to raise voter expectations of their elected officials.
