We recently received the same letter along with 5-6 of our neighbors. The law firm was located down in south Jersey somewhere. I think they heard about the reval and were just trying to drum up some business so I threw it out!

Do it yourself. It's pretty easy.

I used one 4 years ago, had more or less the same pitch as you describe.
We had just purchased our house, they said for what we paid our property tax amount was to high.
Their cost to appeal was 1/3 of the savings. They claimed that the reduction in taxes (if any) would be ongoing not just for one year.
They did reduce the taxes by about $1800 if I remember correct (at the time they were about $6800 I think).
All sounds great but the "savings" only lasted one year. The very next year the tax rate was right back to what it had been previously.
We got the last laugh. We never paid the law firm that offered the service. They gave up trying to collect when I forcefully pointed out they said the reduction would be ongoing instead of one year.
So I would do it, but tell them that you expect savings to be ongoing not just one year.
I would also point out the reval theoretically would equalize everything. So any savings now would be gone after the reval. Others on this forum may have better insight than me on this matter.
Best!

We received an advertisement from a law firm about appealing our JC property tax assessment. The letter said we were over- assessed by over $10,000 which resulted in us overpaying about $1,000 a year. Has anyone on this board used a law firm like this to dispute their taxes? If so, was it worth trying? Thanks for any help.
