Call me paranoid, but even if a contractor is competent, it's just too much ask of them to not want to do a big job, even if a small one will suffice. A unbiased opinion seems a worthwhile investment when talking about major foundation work.

This was over 10 years ago... I just had a contractor take care of it. Everything was inspected by the city.

What I have seen done in the past:

Install a temporary reinforcement of the floors above with 2x10's sistered together and lolly columns.

Remove a section of the foundation, excavate, and pour a new footing. Rebuild the wall with new concrete block.

Repeat until the entire foundation / wall has been replaced.

How old is the building? Are you still able to hold the contractor responsible? Perhaps also contact the city to see if they will assist. Good luck to you.

Lets put it this way, the ceiling lights are all attached to defunct gaslight pipes. I think the contractor could be a century in the ground.

Thanks, but all I need is the engineer for my multifamily that's sinking because of our crappy leaking sewer system undermining the foundation.

Hi Brewster,

I used Associated Consulting Engineers, P.C when I had to get drawings for my buildings that needed a backflow preventor a few years ago. Contact Bob Murray at 908-755-5001.

Do you need to get a reserve study done in order to determine the remaining useful life of your major common elements?

StarTower Management is a full service property management company that specializes in condominium management. Check out our website at www.startowermgmt.com.

Feel free to call us at 201-706-3043 if we can assist you!

I'd like to get a engineering survey of my structural & foundation problems. Has anyone used an LPE or foundation contractor they trust?
