Published: Tuesday, August 02, 2011, 3:00 AM By Terrence T. McDonald/The Jersey Journal
The foreclosure rate in Hudson County is one in every 3,091 units for June, ranking it ninth best of New Jersey?s 21 counties.
In June, there were a total of 84 foreclosure filings in the county, up two from the previous month but down from 521 in May 2010, according to RealtyTrac, a foreclosure monitor.
The hardest hit Hudson County municipality is North Bergen, where one in every 1,693 housing units received a foreclosure filing last month, followed by Union City, where the rate is one for every 2,473 units.
North Bergen spokesman Paul Swibinski said the township has no one assigned to assist residents going through the foreclosure process, but county residents who qualify can seek help from the Hudson County Housing Resource Center.
The center can be reached at (201) 795-5615.
