There are plenty of places that are rented out directlty with the owner. I am actually a landlord of a 3 family house and never thought someone would doubt that I owned the house.

You can see the information on ownership here
The city has the tax information available online and will show if there is a tax lien on the property. You can search both sites by owners name and or the address

Hi,
I am about to rent an apartment directly from the owner. I was wondering if there's a way to confirm that he is the legal owner of the place and that the place is not foreclosed? Further, what other precautions I need to take before I rent the apartment from him? Thanks, HomeSeeker9
