Help clean, beautify your neighborhood | Jersey Journal editorial

Spring cleaning isn?t just for closets, backyards and winter-battered windows.

It?s also a great time to help beautify your neighborhood.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, the fourth annual Great Jersey City CleanUp is expected to get some 30 tons of garbage, litter and other debris off the streets. Last year, 2,000 volunteers pitched in, and the city hopes to double that number this year.

Neighborhood groups, block associations, community organizations and individuals are encouraged to sign up to clean a two- to three-block radius that may include parks, streets or alleyways.
