General Pencil Company celebrates 130 years of manufacturing in Jersey City

Not everything is made in China, after all.

One family-owned business has built a long history in the Jersey City Heights, as the General Pencil Company celebrated 130 years of manufacturing pencils from its Fleet Street factory.

The Weissenborn family has owned and operated the company since 1889, manufacturing a wide array of pencils used all over the world. The company is currently run by CEO and president Katie Weissenborn-Vanoncini, and sales manager Kurstin Barrett-Wojtowicz.
