(I received this announcement in Mayor Fulop's weekly informational email - this looks like a great program. I wonder why private/parochial school kids and/or homeschooled kids cannot apply - if I read this correctly?):

Summer Internship Applications Open

Jersey City public high school students in their junior years, as well as Jersey City residents in their junior years of high school who attend a Hudson County School of Technology, and juniors who are residents of Jersey City who attend a Jersey City charter school are eligible to apply.

We have made summer youth employment a big initiative for us employing nearly 1000 young Jersey City residents into paid summer jobs. I am happy to announce that the online application process for the third annual Jersey City Summer Internship Program (JCSI) is now open.

JCSI is a youth employment initiative that connects talented Jersey City public high school students to work-based internships at the City's leading firms and institutions. Over the last two years, through JC Summer Works, we have connected more than 1,600 young people with paid summer jobs and internships.

These programs have successfully placed Jersey City high school students in paid internships and jobs at local corporations and institutions, and given them the tools and training necessary for them to grow academically and professionally.

Jersey City is fortunate to be home to a wide range of private sector companies and non-profit institutions committed to providing our youth with meaningful experiences.
