I know that Jersey City Animal Hospital on West Side Ave takes ferals, but I don't know if they're willing to give you a break on the cost of treatment.

The cat needs to be trapped and brought to a vet for examination. The vet will sedate the cat through the wire of the trap so they can then handle the cat.

If animal control traps and brings the cat to the vet, it is likely they will kill it since it is feral and not a candidate for adoption. However, if the cat is severely injured and suffering leaving it on the street is not humane either.

If you are willing to pay for the vet exam and treatment, I can loan you a trap. Be advised, a foot injury usually requires the cat to stay off the foot for a week or more. We do this by keeping the cat in a crate indoors for this time period.

There's a feral cat who hangs out in our back garden. He's had a limp for about a month and it's getting worse. Does anyone know where I can take him for treatment? People for Animals, where I've taken many cats to be spayed/neutered, only offers specific services. I'm going to call my vet tomorrow, but I'm not sure they'll be keen on treating a feral. I thought someone might have a recommendation (Carol McNichol? Anyone?). I have a trap and can trap him, I just don't know which vets are feral friendly. Any ideas appreciated. Thank you!
