Jersey City Councilman Daniel Rivera handed out more than 1,200 free book bags and arranged about 130 free haircuts Thursday and Friday for city school children. The barbers donated their labor for the cause. ?I thought it was pretty helpful,? the councilman-at-large said today. ?We know a lot of the kids from the community didn?t have any means or resources to get haircuts or book bags. This was very good for the community.? On Thursday, the councilman?s efforts resulted in distribution of 512 free book bags and 60 free trims at Real Deal Barber Shop on Ocean Avenue. Barbers working for the proprietor, Jermain Robinson, donated their time at the barber chairs, Rivera said.   More
