Summer Dawn Hortillosa | The Jersey Journal

How do you get your kicks? If you?re a sneaker freak, you might?ve gotten them at the Swap Heat in Jersey City.

The Swap Heat, which calls itself ?metropolitan New York & New Jersey?s freshest buy, sell and trade event,? was held on Sunday at Saint Peter?s University in Jersey City.

Vendors showcased their freshest kicks and accessories, which sneaker heads admired, bought or swapped for their own pairs.

Suraj Kaufman, who owns the Sneaker Room on Central Avenue, says it was nice to see a top-notch sneaker show in New Jersey.

?It?s nice for someone to do it in Jersey City on this side of the river,? he said.

?They had a very good selection of current stuff and old stuff, a lot of older stuff and high-price items people were displaying from their collections.?

The uninitiated might be surprised to hear that some of these pairs market for thousands of dollars.

At the Swap Heat, Kaufman says he saw Nike Air Mags and Lebrons, which could go for $9,000 and $2,000, respectively.

Kaufman, who is a Chilltown Imelda Marcos with more than 800 pairs in his personal collection, won?t go too far, he said.
