Anyone know a good place? Ideally, no more than an hour away and not more expensive than buying at a supermarket. Thanks.

Do not make price a factor ! I've had fresh picked, farm stand, and farmer's market goods and I've had store bought packaged goods. You can't compare. Even it is a little bit more it's is better then store bought. I've tasted the difference. And yeah you're picking it yourself why should pay more...because it's worth it ! (and worth the trip)

You'll have to call for the price, but Hillview Farms in Gillette, NJ is a quick shot right out 78W. (It sounds like it's in Podunk, but it's adjacent to Chatham and minutes from the Mall at Short Hills for reference).

They're also right across the street from the Great Swamp, and pretty close to the nature observatory area as well as the Raptor Trust if you want to visit. Plenty of places to eat in the Berkeley Heights/New Providence area nearby, and Casa Maya in Meyersville (right down the block) has pretty decent Mexican food.
