A friend and I went to Shampoo again on Saturday. Single process was $70 and single process with a blowdry was $90.

Both very happy with the color and the experience overall. I think this is going to be my go-to rather than going into the Village.

Just got my color done by Ken at Studio 17, amazing as usual, and did not need to take out a loan from the bank to do this!

While Leah did a great job the few times I went to her I was quite annoyed to be left waiting 25 minutes while Leah got her own hair done Paul. Paul's client was left waiting as well. Very unprofessional.

E'Clips is the place to be. A week ago Nicole gave me the Keratin Treatment ("Keratin Complex" brand---not the Brazilian). My hair went from looking like a dried bale of hay to lovely smooth manageable locks.

Nicole at E'Clips is fantastic...I've been jumping from stylist to stylist and finally found her 2 years ago. It's in the Dixon Mills on the corner.

Thanks Susiechapstick. Went to Shampoo once for a trim & blowout ~ they did a great job. But what's the "sorry, cash only" policy all about? Always seems a little odd to me in this day and age ~ like by running an all cash business, they're skirting declared income with the IRS or something? Haha.

They are actually able to keep their prices lower by NOT accepting any credit cards. Its expensive to accept credit

My normal colorist is at Kayrun Hirsh in the Village, but twice now I've had emergency root touch-ups at ShampooJC on Christopher Columbus. It was the same woman both times, but I'm afraid i can't remember her name.

They only take cash, so if you make an appointment, make sure you bring enough.

Both colorings were A-OK as far as root touch-ups go. The price was less than getting a color in the city, but not inexpensive.

Thanks, Shelly.
Any other honorable mentions out there or are we all still patronizing NY salons? I'm so tired of sitting in a shampoo chair until 9pm on a weeknight, then schlepping home on the PATH.
But whom to trust with the tresses? There's gotta be someone here in Chilltown.

Tired of the whole hair color salon thing in the city and am looking for a local salon and colorist downtown. This is a big undertaking ~ as breaking up with the hairdresser and finding another always is. Help!

Who's the best? What's the going rate for Single Process Color? Do you use the same person for an occasional cut? Is it possible to get a good, straight blowout in this town?

C'mon, do tell all & thanks so much, in advance.
