Don't miss CHRISTOPHER AND HIS KIND this Sunday May 20th at LITM.
Actor Matt Smith ("Dr. Who") gives "a mesmerizing performance?Excellent as he is as the Doctor, that is a strangely asexual role. There's nothing asexual about this one. But it's more than pure smut; Smith is appealingly rakish, thoroughly disreputable, charming, posh, clever and funny. Imogen Poots is simply marvelous darling as luvvie Jean Ross, the inspiration for Liza Minnelli's Sally Bowles character in Cabaret." ?The Guardian

Handsome Matt Smith (the U.K.'s latest Dr. Who) plays the young author Christopher Isherwood ("The Berlin Stories") as the film beautifully captures his relationships with the poet W.H. Auden, flatmate Jean Ross (Isherwood's real life friend and the basis for his character Sally Bowles immortalized in the film "Cabaret") and the Jewish, upper class Wilfrid Landauer (Iddo Goldberg, "Secret Diary Of A Call Girl").
"Matt Smith, best known as the current incarnation of The Doctor on "Doctor Who," plays Isherwood, and its wonderful to see him dial back the manic energy and broad comedy of The Doctor to the naive and initially repressed Isherwood. From there, Smith blossoms as Isherwood does, relishing his experiences with rent boys and in the dimly lit bars of Berlin." ?L.A. Film Festival "Covering some of the same narrative ground thinly fictionalized in "The Berlin Stories" and its various dramatic incarnations (mostly famously "Cabaret"), "Christopher and His Kind" offers a broader canvas in portraying Christopher Isherwood's stay in early 1930s Berlin and its aftermath?Director Geoffrey Sax [does] a fine job capturing the decadence and desperation of the milieu." ?Variety WHAT: CHRISTOPHER AND HIS KIND, directed by Geoffrey Sax.
