SIX-WEEK COURSES

1) INTRO TO STAINED GLASS
MONDAYS, JULY 5-AUGUST 9, 7-10 PM
Instructor: Keith VanPelt | Fee: $250
Learn how to construct a basic stained glass window. Start with an overview of tools and safety, and continue with design, and fabrication. Work from your own design or a pattern, this class is for all skill levels and there is no artistic experience required.

2) INTRO TO PAINTING AND DRAWING
TUESDAYS, JULY 6-AUGUST 10, 7-10 pm
Instructor: Thomas John Carlson | Fee: $250
A series of weekly classes designed to train students to master foundation skills. The exercises include rendering the value scale, gradients, using a viewfinder, sight-sizing, composition, various painting techniques (under-painting, glazing and alla prima), and still-life. Students will also be given optional assignments that will expand on the material presented in class.

3) FIGURE SCULPTURE
WEDNESDAYS, JULY 7-AUGUST 11, 7-10 PM
Instructor: Christi Harrington | Fee: $275
Understand and explore the three-dimensional human form via hands-on practice and an art historical examination of the reclining nude, made famous by Giorgione, Titian, and Manet. You will work from a live model, studying anatomy and proportion to create a water clay figure. The course will also cover mold making and sculpture casting, turning the clay pieces into finished art works.

4) WEEKEND WORKSHOP
Jewelry Making with Precious Metal Clay (PMC)
JULY 24-25, 12-3 PM
Instructor: Joanne Simmons | Fee: $100
Learn the history and myriad uses of different types of PMC?containing silver and/or copper?and how these products are used, stored and fired. Learn how to manipulate this clay-like medium to create unique pieces of jewelry, such as a pendant or cufflinks. Final pieces will be kiln fired and finished using hand techniques and tumbler.

NEXT CLASS
Digital Photography?Learning to Use Your SLR
JUNE 26-27, 12-3PM
This workshop is designed to give you a comprehensive overview of digital camera designs and capabilities, and the steps you must take to shoot great photographs. Learn to use the settings and functions of your camera by exploring color space, white balance, the in-camera light meter, and the differences and advantages of shooting in each file format. Also discover the rules of good composition, the Rule of Thirds, background and the S Rule.
Instructor: Haley Jane Samuelson | Fee: $70 | A camera is required, digital preferred, digital SLR is best
