This was an amazing event for an amazing organization. Having raised my daughter in New Orleans, the benefit of exposing our youth to such a fascinating culture, music, art and otherwise, is beyond measure. My family is looking forward to helping out any way we can.

Laissez les bon temps roulez!

NOLA Preservation Society is having another great event to fundraise towards the trip to New Orleans. A screening of the Academy Award-nominated documentary "Trouble the Water". Presented as the kick off film for LITM?s Independent Filmmakers Series.

WHEN:Saturday, June 6th - 1:00 pm
WHERE: LITM 140 Newark Ave. Jersey City.
We welcome a VERY special guest - the film's Producer, Tia Lessin, who will be joining us for a Q and A immediately following.

About the film:
Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival, and nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature, this astonishingly powerful documentary takes you inside Hurricane Katrina in a way never before seen on screen. Incorporating remarkable home footage shot by Kimberly Rivers Roberts, an aspiring rap artist trapped with her husband in the 9th ward? directors/producers Tia Lessin and Carl Deal (producers of Fahrenheit 9/11 and Bowling for Columbine) weave this insider?s view of Katrina with a devastating portrait of the hurricane's aftermath.

$5.00 minimum donation at the door.

All proceeds will benefit the NOLA Preservation Society - a non-profit organization promoting the rebuilding of New Orleans and the preservation and education of its unique culture. The money raised will help NOLA to send 100 Jersey City High School kids to New Orleans at the end of June.

Questions? Email Leah at leah@litm.com
