Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken to host 2013 Innovation Expo
By Charles Hack/The Jersey Journal April 04, 2013 at 3:36 PM HOBOKEN ? Mobile applications, solar houses, and biomedical products, are just some of the inventions created by faculty and students that will be on display at the Stevens Institute of Technology's 2013 Innovation Expo. Stevens Institute of Technology is hosting the campus-wide annual exhibition on April 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Stevens Campus at 1 Castle Point Terrace to showcase innovative technologies, products and services developed by students and faculty throughout the year. Stevens will also be launching a year-long lecture series, Thomas H. Scholl Lecture, on entrepreneurship that will feature successful entrepreneurs and executives who have started businesses or improved the financial performance of existing companies. The expo also includes a presentation highlighting research from the school's Financial Systems Center at Stevens, which supports graduate and undergraduate programs including financial engineering, software engineering, cybersecurity, and business and technology. ?The hallmark of Stevens for 143 years has been technological innovation that solves real-world problems,? said Stevens Provost George Korfiatis in a statement. ?The annual Stevens Innovation Expo celebrates the breadth and depth of academic study at Stevens and the impact of Stevens research and education within industry and society.? The inaugural keynote speaker for first Thomas H. Scholl Lecture is David E. Hershberg ?68, who is a founder, CEO and chairman of the satellite communications firm Globecomm Systems and a Stevens alumnus. He will explain how and why he decided to start two companies in a field dominated by large corporations and discuss some basic lessons about core values, company culture, people management, and financial and legal issues learned over 50 successful years in the business. http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/20 ... nolog_8.html#incart_river
