Two months from the Jersey City municipal election, challengers to Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop’s council slate are promising reform.

In Jersey City’s Wards B, C, and D, five political newcomers — Joel Brooks, Kevin Bing, Tom Zuppa, Danielle Freire and John Salierno — are vying for council seats, hoping to tap into frustration with rising rents, quality-of-life concerns, and the breakneck pace of development across the city.
