Jersey City Department of Public Safety moving to Marion Gardens

JERSEY CITY — On what is expected to be a contentious night at City Hall, the opening ordinance to move the Jersey City Department of Public Safety to Marion Gardens passed relatively smoothly. 

Only councilman Rich Boggiano voted no to the move on Wednesday night, criticizing the new headquarters distance from the heart of the city compared to its current Journal Square location. 

"Why can't we build a centrally located facility with transportation?" asked Boggiano. "This is the biggest joke in the world, why don't they put it in Kearny across from the Hackensack River."
