Jersey City mayor finds blame across the board for government shutdown

A pox on both their houses, Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop said today about the partial federal government shutdown that started at midnight.

Fulop said today that the shutdown will affect a host of city programs that use federal dollars, including WIC, which provides food and nutritional counseling to needy families.

According to an email from Stacey Lea Flanagan, the city?s health director, the WIC program will not be able to provide money for food after Friday if the shutdown continues.

?It?s embarrassing that Washington can?t seem to make any progress on any sort of issue,? Fulop said this morning. ?It?s one thing after another, and it seems there?s no roadmap for resolving this issue.?
