Fulop remains opposed to controversial Horizon health plans

JERSEY CITY — Yesterday's debate in the state Legislature on the controversial new OMNIA insurance plans offered by Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey hasn't changed Mayor Steve Fulop's opposition.

Fulop in September said the plans would be "catastrophic" to some Hudson County hospitals. Fulop spokeswoman Jennifer Morrill said in a statement that his opposition remains firm.

"This is a simple question of whether the insurance companies should be deciding which hospitals survive in New Jersey or whether residents should decide," Morrill said. "Mayor Fulop believes the decision should be made by residents."
