JERSEY CITY - A discussion about two routine bond ordinances at tonight's City Council meeting ended with Council President Rolando Lavarro tossing a state Assembly candidate from the council chambers and the council voting to postpone a vote on both measures.

Bruce Alston, who is seeking to represent the 31st Legislative District in the Assembly, was complaining about not being allowed to speak earlier in the meeting when Lavarro told him he was required to speak about the bond ordinances only.

Alston dared Lavarro to throw him out of the meeting for speaking off-topic and Lavarro accepted the dare.
